British Castles

Castle Introduction

A Castle is a British, Ireland and England and many more kind of culture for example Windsor Castle is from England Arundel Castle is from England as well. Also the Castle is where the Royal family lives like the King, Queen, Prince and Princess. Castle were not built today but built 1066 which is approximately 952 years ago. Also Castles have so many different kinds of parts like the bailey, Moat,Keep and Portcullis.

Arrow Slits
Arrow slits are a design in the castle for the person inside the castle to shoot the enemy outside. The arrow slits are so narrow and thin you won’t even be able to shoot the person inside ( only if your the best aimer). Also arrow Slits are narrow vertical windows. Another fact about arrow slits are that arrow slits are also known as arrow loops.The interior walls behind an arrow loop are often cut away at an oblique angle so that the archer has a wide field of view and field of fire. Arrow slits come in a remarkable variety.

Bailey
A Bailey castle is a  wooden or stone keep situated on a raised earthwork called a motte . Accompanied by an enclosed courtyard or bailey surrounded by a protective ditch and palisade. Motte and bailey castles were immensely popular for nearly 200 years.
The Keep  
A medieval castle keep was a kind of fortified tower that had central importance in the defence of the castle. It also served the purpose of imprisoning political prisoners since it was considered one of the most impenetrable castle parts.
Battlements
A battlement in defensive architecture, such as that of city walls or castles, comprises a parapet, in which gaps or indentations, which are often rectangular, occur at intervals to allow for the launch of arrows or other projectiles from within the defences.
